Animal Trust Urgently Needs A Veterinary Surgeon – 2025

Animal Trust Urgently Needed At Veterinary Surgeon

Animal Trust Vets CIC, established in 2012, is a pioneering veterinary organization in the United Kingdom. Founded by Owen Monie, the company operates as a Community Interest Company (CIC), a status it adopted in early 2020, making it the first veterinary practice in the UK to do so.

This designation underscores its commitment to reinvesting profits into the community, ensuring that veterinary care remains accessible and affordable for all pet owners.

As a CIC, Animal Trust focuses on providing comprehensive veterinary services without the primary aim of profit maximization. This model allows the organization to offer free consultations and transparent pricing, breaking down financial barriers that often prevent pets from receiving necessary care.

The company’s mission is to ensure that no pet goes untreated or faces euthanasia when viable treatment options are available, aligning with its core values of straightforwardness, accessibility, sustainability and fairness.

Animal Trust has expanded its reach with multiple surgeries across England and Wales including locations in Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales. Notably, in 2020, the organization secured a £700,000 loan from the Development Bank of Wales to open a new veterinary hospital in Rhyl, further extending its services to pets and their owners in the region.

Additionally, in December 2022, Animal Trust achieved B Corporation certification, reflecting its commitment to balancing purpose and profit while meeting high standards of social and environmental performance.

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our vibrant and dedicated team in Shropshire! This role offers a unique and dynamic split between two key locations: our clinic in Telford and our state-of-the-art 24/7 hospital based in Shrewsbury.

This position provides a rare chance to work closely with a team of experienced veterinary professionals. At our Shrewsbury hospital, you’ll collaborate with a talented team that includes certificate holders, benefiting from a rich pool of expertise. Meanwhile, at our Telford clinic, you’ll play a significant role in not only maintaining but also enhancing and expanding the clinic’s services and outreach.

Role Breakdown

At the Telford clinic, your responsibilities will include conducting routine consultations and handling emergency appointments. In addition, you’ll be performing a variety of routine surgical procedures two days a week. This will allow you to engage with a range of cases, ensuring variety and professional growth.

Meanwhile, the Shrewsbury hospital offers a slightly different but equally rewarding environment. Your work here will be divided into two days: one day will focus on emergency and critical care (ECC) as well as inpatient care, while the other will involve routine consultations and surgeries. This setup ensures a balance of routine and emergency cases, offering you a well-rounded and fulfilling workload.

Equipment and Team Support

Both the Telford clinic and the Shrewsbury hospital are well-equipped with advanced veterinary tools and technology including digital X-rays, dental X-rays and ultrasound facilities. Additionally, you will benefit from working with a well-established and highly skilled team of nurses and receptionists, all committed to providing excellent support in a collaborative and professional environment.

Why Join Animal Trust?

Work Hours and Flexibility

This role involves a 40-hour workweek spread over four days, offering an efficient and balanced schedule. Weekend shifts are structured as part of a 2:9 rotation, ensuring a manageable work-life balance.

For those seeking part-time opportunities, we are open to considering flexible arrangements to suit individual circumstances and preferences.
